Privacy notice
This notice covers The Standoff game and this website, run by Tidekeeper, an independent game made by an individual in the United Kingdom ("we"). Contact: playtidekeeper@gmail.com.
What we collect
- A random player id that your browser makes the first time you play. It is not linked to your name or email.
- Your runs: the ocean you played, the timing of each press, and your score. We replay runs to check scores.
- Shop purchases made with shells (game points). There is no way to pay us money in the game.
- Simple events: when you tap Share or Get card, open or play a challenge link, or arrive from a creator's link.
- A salted hash made from your browser type, language and part of your network address, and the country your connection comes from. We do not store your IP address. We use these only to stop one person running many accounts and to apply country rules.
- Page statistics from Cloudflare Web Analytics, which does not use cookies or track you across sites.
Your game progress is also saved in your own browser's storage, so you can keep playing. Clearing your browser data removes it.
Why
To run the game and its daily leaderboard, to keep scores fair, and to stop cheating. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in running a fair game and preventing fraud.
Who sees it
Our hosting and analytics providers (DigitalOcean, Cloudflare) process data for us. Leaderboards show a made-up name like "Petty Crab 412" and a score, never your id. We do not sell data.
How long we keep it
Until 12 months after the game closes, then we delete it. A deletion request removes it sooner.
Your choices
To see or delete your data, email playtidekeeper@gmail.com with your player id. You'll find it in the game under Turtle, in the stats table. We'll reply within 30 days. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
